Granite is proud to be nationally recognized with the following:
GRANITE ADDED TO FORTUNE'S LIST OF 100 BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR
Granite Construction Incorporated has been named to FORTUNE magazine’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For in America.” The company ranked 74 overall. The list appears in the magazine’s February 4, 2008 issue. Published annually by FORTUNE, the “100 Best” list recognizes companies that provide rewarding places to work. The most important factor in selecting companies for this list is what employees themselves have to say about their workplaces. Nearly 100,000 randomly selected employees from 406 candidate companies filled out an employee-opinion survey (The Great Place to Work Trust Index, an instrument created by the Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco). Each candidate company also filled out an audit detailing its people, policies, practices, and philosophies. Companies were evaluated on both the employee surveys and the company questionnaires, with the employees' opinions accounting for two-thirds of the total score. Read the News Release.
Granite's President and Chief Executive Officer, William G. Dorey, said, "We are extremely proud of this achievement. This honor recognizes the quality of our workforce, their dedication, commitment and engagement in what they do to make Granite a great place to work. We have a very unique culture at Granite that we believe honors our people -- one that we are all very privileged to be a part of. It is a tribute to our employees that they have been able to build and maintain this culture that has remained a cornerstone of our success for over eight decades."
Granite employees have been the recipients of a rich and generous legacy over the years, and Granite continues in Building A Legacy by Honoring Our People. Granite IS its people. Their collective knowledge, skill and passion contributes to making Granite a great place to work. Part of Honoring Our People is creating an environment that attracts highly motivated people with strong values. This is the foundation, not only of Granite’s longevity and success, but what makes Granite a great place to work. People are chosen to work at Granite because of their strength of character and reflection of the qualities outlined in Granite’s Core Values.

GRANITE CONSTRUCTION HONORED BY ETHISPHERE INSTITUTE
"At Granite, our Code of Conduct, as well as our Core Values, are the foundation of our success and represent the way in which we hold each other and ourselves accountable to the highest level of ethical and responsible conduct throughout the company," says CEO, Bill Dorey.
More than 1,000 federal government contractors were analyzed as part of the 2008 ratings. The Institute's rankings were based on an objective analysis of four categories: code of ethics and business conduct, leadership and tone from the top, internal control systems, and, ethics training and communication programs. With an overall score of 80.04, the above-standard rating means that Granite went above and beyond the government's expectations, meeting all measurement criteria and displaying a strong company-wide commitment to ethics. A complete listing of the Government Contractors ratings is available at http://www.ethisphere.com.
Alex Brigham, Executive Director of the Ethisphere Institute, said, "In undertaking this exhaustive research and ranking, we have found the opportunity to highlight companies that have taken proactive measures to implement the proper controls, culture and programs to communicate company values and prevent unethical behavior. They should be a shining example to others in the industry."
