WELL CONSTRUCTION
No single method of well construction suits all purposes. Layne’s licensed well drillers construct and develop new wells to maximize specific well capacity by considering not only geologic factors, but the intended use and available budget to best suit our client’s needs.
Dual Wall Percussion Hammer
The Dual Wall Percussion Hammer technique provides high penetration rates and continuous sampling. This reduces field engineering time while ensuring no critical formations are missed. Dry sampling/casing means no mud or drilling fluid is necessary, offering continuous and accurate geologic sampling.
Dual Wall Reverse Circulation
Utilizing a double-walled drill pipe, this method forces air down the annulus between the inner and outer drill pipe strings through the bit. The airflow pulls cuttings up through the inner drill pipe, where they are discharged through a cyclone separator or into a pit. Since the borehole walls are not involved in conveying cuttings to the surface, this process results in zero sample contamination and maximizes geological recovery in adverse conditions where conventional rotary drilling might fail.
Dual Rotary Casing Advance
Dual Rotary Casing Advance drilling rotates the casing through overburden and within fracture zones to maintain borehole stability, providing straight holes and an easily extractable casing. This is especially useful in well abandonment applications and for exposing well screens.

As direct successors of the Boyles Brothers diamond drilling business, (est.1895), Layne Minerals offers diamond core experience that is second to none. Our high-quality samples accurately reflect the location and orientation of underlying mineral deposits. Our dedication to safety and innovation has led to major equipment developments, such as the first truly hands-free Automated Rod Manipulator (ARM).

We provide high-performance and high-quality dewatering wells through custom-developed tooling, fully automated rod handling, and a certified bottom hole assembly design.
International Directional Services (IDS)
IDS offers borehole deviation surveys and directional drilling services in the mineral, energy, and civil markets. IDS provides its customers with five product and service lines: downhole deviation survey services, directional drilling services, downhole instrumentation sales and rentals, directional mud motor sales, and borehole geophysics in select international markets.
