WATSONVILLE, Calif., July 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, was awarded a $26 million contract by the Utah Department of Transportation to reconstruct an existing one-mile section of Riverdale Road in Weber County. This is the fourth and final contract awarded to Granite for this project. The four awarded contracts totaled $40 million.
Located north of Salt Lake City, the one-mile project will include the addition of a new lane in both directions and the reconstruction of the bridge and Interstate 84 interchange. The majority of the bridge will be constructed off-site, limiting the impact to the traveling public. Scope of the project also includes the replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as new street lighting, signals and a storm drainage system.
Work on the project is currently underway with an estimated completion date of May 2009.
