WATSONVILLE, Calif., June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company, a wholly owned subsidiary, has been awarded a $37 million contract by the Texas Department of Transportation for the construction of a freeway in Lubbock, Texas.
Under the contract, Granite will convert approximately two miles of existing roadway to freeway. Scope of the project also includes excavation, embankment, asphalt and concrete paving, as well as the construction of retaining walls, bridge structures, drainage, signage and erosion control.
The project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2007 and estimated to be completed by mid-2009.
