Granite Construction Awarded $44 Million Highway Rehabilitation Project in California

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) today announced that Granite Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, was awarded a $44 million contract by the California Department of Transportation to rehabilitate approximately 12 miles of Interstate 80 in Placer County, located 50 miles northeast of Sacramento.

Scope of the work includes approximately 110,000 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 215,000 tons of asphalt concrete and 60,000 linear feet of concrete barriers.

Work on the project is scheduled to begin in April 2009 and is estimated to be completed by October 2009.
