WATSONVILLE, Calif., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite ConstructionIncorporated (NYSE: GVA) announced today that Granite Construction Company, awholly owned subsidiary, has been awarded a $93 million contract by theFlorida Department of Transportation’s Florida Turnpike Enterprise for thewidening of six miles of the Florida Turnpike (SR 91) in Central Florida.
The full scope of the project includes the widening of the turnpike fromfour lanes to eight lanes from Interstate 4 to Gotha Road. Also included isthe widening of the Turnpike Bridges over Interstate 4 and Apopka-VinelandRoad, as well as reconstruction of the Kirkman Road and Gotha Road bridges.
The project also includes the installation of six miles of decorativesound barrier, all lighting, signing and marking, construction of storm waterretention ponds, resurfacing existing pavement, landscaping and utilities.The project is scheduled to begin in July 2007 and estimated to be completedby spring 2010.
