Granite Construction Incorporated Names Jigisha Desai to Vice President

WATSONVILLE, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Jigisha Desai to Vice President, Treasurer, Assistant Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary, effective January 16, 2007. Desai will be reporting to William E. Barton, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

William G. Dorey, Granite's President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Granite is extremely fortunate to have an individual like Jigisha on our team. She has proven herself to be an intelligent and hard-working executive who will undoubtedly play a key role in Granite's future."

During her 14-year career in financial management with Granite, Desai has held several positions of responsibility, including Treasury Manager and Assistant Treasurer. In her current role, she will lead a team of 21 and manage the financial position of the Company, including banking, surety and risk management.

Desai has an MBA degree in Corporate Finance from Golden Gate University and a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Houston. She has also earned the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation.

Desai will replace Ms. Roxane Allbritton who will be retiring June 1, 2007. Allbritton has been with Granite since 1984 and held the position of Vice President and Treasurer since 1990.
