WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA), one of the nation's leading infrastructure contractors, announced today that Phillip M. DeCocco has been named vice president of human resources, effective May 16, 2011.

Mr. DeCocco's most recent position was as regional vice president of human resources for the Ryland Group, a publicly-traded homebuilder. In this role, Mr. DeCocco was responsible for developing and implementing all human resources strategies, including succession planning, acquisitions and growth initiatives for Ryland's largest homebuilding region located in ten markets - Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. Prior to joining Ryland, Mr. DeCocco served as vice president of human resources for North Carolina-based Alliant Foodservice, and as human resources specialist for Gannett Company, a NYSE-listed international news and information business in Virginia. Mr. DeCocco received a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Michael's College in Vermont, and a master of business administration degree from Pepperdine University in California.
