Granite's California Region Wins 2024 Excellence in Safety Award through the AGC of California

Recognition by AGC of California

Granite has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California as the recipient of the prestigious Excellence in Safety Award. This award is given to organizations that exemplify and promote excellence in safety within the construction industry in California.

Commitment to Safety

The Excellence in Safety Awards honor the dedication and commitment of companies that prioritize safety as a core value. Granite distinguished itself among its peers by demonstrating excellence across various criteria, including upper management commitment, worker training, active company-wide participation, and innovative safety practices.

Independent Review

An independent panel of safety professionals reviewed applications, placing special emphasis on the crucial elements that contribute to a robust safety culture. Granite's dedication to safety at all levels, from management to the workforce, played a pivotal role in securing this esteemed recognition.

Additional Honors

In addition to the Excellence in Safety Award, Granite’s BNSF Mt. Vernon Bridge project in San Bernadino, CA received the Safety on a High Hazard Project award. This award recognizes projects with a multi-story structure over 36 feet, work occurring in engineered trenches, or where there is a significant danger of serious injury or death.

A Message from Leadership

"Granite is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and health. This award is a significant milestone in our ongoing journey towards excellence," said Dave Hulverson, Granite Senior Vice President of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ). "It not only validates our current safety initiatives but also motivates us to continuously strive for excellence in all aspects of our operations."
