Granite Hires Robert J. Beekhuizen to Lead Construction and Materials Businesses

WATSONVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that Robert J. Beekhuizen has been named senior vice president of Construction and Materials reporting to Granite executive vice president and chief operating officer, Christopher S. Miller.

Rob will be responsible for leading all of Granite’s construction and materials businesses which also includes oversight of all vertically-integrated operations. He will work closely with senior management as he develops and implements plans, processes and systems to achieve further operational excellence in delivery and execution, as well as overall growth in these businesses.

Rob brings over 30 years of industry experience managing and executing major projects and construction portfolios internationally, including the U.S. and Canada. He comes to Granite from Fluor where he most recently served as Global President, Construction & Fabrication and Vice President and Executive Officer of Fluor Canada Ltd. Prior to Fluor, Rob held senior positions at Husky Energy and URS/Flint Energy Services. He brings extensive experience in leadership and management across the project business cycle including pursuits/proposals, engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissions and operations & management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, a Bachelor of Engineering in industrial engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a Masters of Engineering in project management from the University of Calgary.
