Granite Construction Awarded $37 Million Freeway Project in Texas

WATSONVILLE, Calif., June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GraniteConstruction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA) announced today that GraniteConstruction Company, a wholly owned subsidiary, has been awarded a $37million contract by the Texas Department of Transportation for theconstruction of a freeway in Lubbock, Texas.

Under the contract, Granite will convert approximately two miles ofexisting roadway to freeway. Scope of the project also includes excavation,embankment, asphalt and concrete paving, as well as the construction ofretaining walls, bridge structures, drainage, signage and erosion control.

The project is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2007 and estimated to becompleted by mid-2009.
