WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Secais getting a total makeover: new pavement, a new pedestrian bridge, and some new buildings, as part of an approximately $20 million renovation.
The heavy rains and strong winds that struck California in January, dubbed "bomb cyclones," caused severe devastation in many parts of the state, taking lives and destroying and damaging homes and businesses. The storm also directly impacted the California Department of Transportation's (Caltrans) highway and bridge network and many local roads and bridges.

Granite Construction developed a recycled asphalt pavement mix that replaces virgin binder, a petroleum product, with post-consumer plastics. A prototype parking lot uses the plastic equivalent of 1.8 million single-use bags and approximately 530 tons of RAP.
